I love this quote. It’s an ideology that doesn’t win you work, job or opportunities, though. A more realistic mantra we are instilled with at a young age would be, “look what I can do, what I’ve achieved, how intelligent I can sound”. How frustrating is it that the boastful self-promoters can barge their way in and take what they want. I mean, they do say that, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”. Perhaps there is something to this “entitled” complex, that us quiet hard workers could sit up and pay attention to?
Sorry, that all sounded a little too pessimistic and dark – spring has sprung dammit!
This week I was challenged not by “new-school” technology. Ah! That would have been too easy – Control, Alt, Delete that problem away, my friend. No, no. Instead, here’s me, cranking the wheel of a lino printing press like a scene out of Game of Thrones wondering why the hell the ink prints were coming out blurry.
Let’s just take a moment to reflect on the previous generation of creators and how they must have suffered, finding solutions to their problems without the aid of Google. Just FYI, there is never a dull moment in an Art Room; be really careful when using lino carving tools. They are sharp and penetrate skin very easily. Believe me. I’ve witnessed it first hand. You’ll need that stitched back up if you stab yourself right…
Hopefully next week I’ll post about my first experiences on a tablet – I’m downloading the necessary software as we speak…
If you want to be heard, you have to roar, little mouse!
